David qualified as an Aerodrome Air Traffic Controller in 1992. He later graduated in Law from Portobello College, Dublin, and joined the leading commercial law firm of Elliott Duffy Garrett in 1996.

He was admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Judicature in Northern Ireland in 1998 and in the Republic of Ireland in 2005.

In 2003, he joined Kearney Sefton Solicitors as a specialist Commercial Property Lawyer, before assuming his present role, as Managing Partner in the family firm, in January 2006.

David is Honorary Secretary of St. Malachy's College Old Boys' Association and a Committee Member of the Belfast Solicitors' Association.
